The Story of a Very Large Suitcase

Once upon a time there was an enormous suitcase. It weighed ten pounds when there was nothing inside of it. When the suitcase packed the first pair of shoes, its trip to France suddenly became very real and very close. The suitcase realized that there really wasn't that much room inside of it for everything that it wanted to bring. It had a horrible tendency to over pack, but it would try to not bring absolutely everything in its closet. It would try. To be continued...

Okay, I hope that corny story made sense. Basically, I started to officially pack today (: Only 12 more days until that 20 something hour flight.

Can you believe it? I can't.

Only two weeks left. TWO WEEKS. That blows my mind. There’s still so much to do and pack and there’s so many people to say good-bye to. I’m not a huge fan of good-byes, but I know it has to be done. Every night I wonder about that first day in France; that first day when I will realize that all I have is a suitcase and two years of French in mind to communicate with strangers–thousands of miles away from home. It’s crazy… and I am so excited. (:

16 Days until Cambrai!

Hello all, my name is Aja. I live in Washington State in the big USA. I’m almost 16 and on August 23 I will be boarding a plane headed to France for my year-long student exchange. My host city is Cambrai, a small town really close to the Belgium border. I will be going to a Catholic school… a very big change seeing as I’m not Catholic. But all the same, I’m so excited and quite unprepared! There’s an enormous empty suitcase that I must attend to at some point in the next 16 days. So feel free to shoot me a question, picture, comment, present, hug, etc. before I leave.
Bon voyage,
Aja
